Finally, a guitar that works with any game! It worked great with PS2 and Wii. I don't have PS3 and haven't tried XBOX yet, but so far it is better than sliced bread!

Disc Skip Fixer Review

Disc Skip Fixer

I have had quite a handful of CD's, DVD's and games scratched by my own mishandling or by friends who also had their share of "accidents". Some scratches were mild and others looked beyond repair. For the vast majority, this thick paste-like DISC SKIP FIXER works miracles when the directions are followed. I even used paper towels with this and had near perfect luck. Sometimes I have had discs that were really messed up....I mean....REALLY BAD. For these I discovered an equally fixable solution. I use regular basic toothpaste on these REALLY BAD ones, (using the same suggested motion in the DISC SKIP FIXER instructions). Then I wash the disc with warm running water and proceed with the DISC SKIP FIXER following the directions on the sqeeze bottle. I have fixed over 155 discs for myself and friends and NEVER had a failure. You only need the bottle, a paper towel and some running water. HONESTLY....no fancy machines, equipment or weird mechanicale gizmos are needed----- just the squeeze bottle of DISC SKIP FIXER a soft cloth -or paper towel_ and THAT'S ALL !!!! This solution is like a miracle in a bottle. I used to see this in retail outlets, but it is no longer sold there. I never write reviews, but this product is so incredible, and has saved me SO MUCH MONEY - that, well.....I HAD to write this. All I can say is ..."wow....awesome!"

Hori Arcade Pro V 2 Fighting Stick Fight Joystick for Sony PS2 / PSOne Playstation Review

A great stick if you're trying to get back into using an arcade setup or to start from scratch. It's lasted a good while but the buttons have slowly become less and less responsive. I know, I know...This should be expected but you really have to smash the buttons after about 2 years of moderate playing.

Playstation 3 System Messenger Bag Review

Playstation 3 System Messenger Bag

After buying my PS3 and realizing how glossy it was, I decided that not getting a case for it wasn't going to be an option. I went to my nearby retailer to pick one up rather than wait for Amazon, and this was the only one they had. After looking at the other ones online, I figured this would be the best way to go. Others looked like they had strangely fitting compartments, or constraints for the accessories or games.
Pros
-VERY sturdy, hardcore nylon straps, strong clips, even extra velcro on the outside to hold down the flap.
-Decent compartment space for games and at least one controller.
-Shoulder strap is always very nice freeing up a hand.
Cons
-It very minorly scratches the outer crest of the PS3 (but this is almost unvisible unless you look closely) So you're sacrificing a little asthetic for the strength of the bag.
-It could be compartmentalized a little better to allow more space for controllers/games
Overall
-This is a VERY sturdy case with adequate room for all the stuff you'll need to lug around your PS3. I'm pleased and would definitely recommend it compared to everything else that's currently available.

Logitech Wii Wireless Guitar Controller Review

Logitech Wii Wireless Guitar Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For perspective, I am an "accoustic" guitar player (mid-range "Taylor," without electronics). Slow to adopt new technology, I finally purchased a Wii console for my family this Christmas. So we would be ready to go as soon as the wrapping paper was ripped away, I also had "Wii Fit with Balance Board" on hand, as well as a copy of "Guitar Hero III" to use with the "Logitech Wii Wireless Guitar Controller." Basically, the entire family has been playing Wii for most of the last 48 hours, and "Guitar Hero" for most of the last day. I will incorporate comments from my daughter who has never played guitar, as well as from my son who plays electric guitar and has used other guitar controllers and is more accomplished with the games. (He plays most often at the "Hard" level, with occasional strolls into "Expert.")
My controller started right up right away the first time without any problems. Its easy to set up using the Wii controller that comes with the basic console. If you are reading this review, its because you want a high quality experience, so you want your guitar to look and feel like the real thing. Hard wood maple neck. Dark rosewood fretboard. Mother of pearl-like "Logitech" logo on the lower neck. Chrome throughout. It is a very realistic, high quality. If you want the plastic "toy," for your six year old, I suggest getting something cheaper and smaller. It was a very sweet moment, taking this beast out of the box.
I commented to my son that the neck might be slighly shorter than an actual electric guitar, but he said that this controller (entire unit is almost 34" top to bottom) actually has a longer neck than most typical Guitar Hero controllers! For folks who have never played guitar, or are familiar with the "el-cheapo" plastic devices, and people with smaller hands, you will notice that one of the costs of realism is that it may be more difficult for you to get your fingers around the neck. But the five buttons and slide are easy to get used to. Even my daughter (5' 4" - never played before, but with good hand eye coordination) was able to work the neck with her left hand with no problem. (We are all right handed. I don't know what the options are for you lefties out there....If you don't mind the location of the "whammy" bar, I guess you just flip it upside down.) You will need the strap that comes with it, because it weighs alot just like the real thing.
The traditional black picking area over the glossy white is very classy. It is shiny, hefty, and totally cool. This is the kind of gift you want to get your child to guarantee a "wow" moment when it comes out of the box.
My son thought the strum bar was a little longer than he'd seen in other controllers (almost 3 1/2 inches long), which allows plenty of freedom to move the right hand all over the place, and still have some bar to work with. I suggested he learn to strum with up and down motion to prepare for the lightning fast songs, but he is still getting great speed with the Logitech strum bar just strumming as fast as he can with a downward motion, and its relatively quiet.
The buttons work nicely. My son assured me any issues I was having were due to me, not the mechanics of the buttons. And I think he calibrated the timing of the "notes" for a little earlier strumming (using the Guitar Hero software) than I would have preferred. Nevertheless, I'd say the buttons work just fine. Logitech's write-up on the Amazon website is spot on, except perhaps for the sounds the buttons make. Again, it was probably me - my son was playing more difficult songs, and making fewer clicks. But I personally have no problem with sounds coming from the buttons. Just like I have no problem with the sounds my fingers make travelling up and down the base strings on my accoustic Taylor. This may be the software more than the controller, but I like the fact that when you mess up big time, the controller emits a gentle twang; nothing too harsh.
This product is consistent with other Logitech products I've reveiwed in the past. If you take care of them, fidelity is never an issue.
I've got to tell you, for this accoustic player, hitting a few hundred "notes" in a row, tilting the neck up to the sky to activate the bonus and feeling the vibration, fooling around with the "whammy" bar, etc., is hella fun. The star power button is disguised as the pickups, and the "+" button is the bridge. Basically, with the styling and color of this guitar, a little more practice, and a little less shaving, (I already wear glasses), I'll be an Eric Clapton look alike!
And thats what its all about people.

PlayStation 3 G-pak Console Organizer Case (Colors May Vary) Review

PlayStation 3 G-pak Console Organizer Case (Colors May Vary)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When making a custom case like this, some consideration should be made for what will likely be stored in it apart from the main unit. This case is great for holding a PS3, but it's missing a way to really organize the accessories, which cost it a star.
First, the way the PS3 fits in: you lay the case flat and strap in the PS3 to the bottom panel with two elastic/velcro straps. As many have suggested, it's best to put a shop towel or t-shirt between your machine and the straps to prevent scratching.
The base of the unit is attached with velcro, which allows you to plug in the power cord, video/audio cables, and access the master switch. As a result, you can play games while the console is still in the case. While this seems a dodgy proposition, at best, the case is designed with vents in its side panels to allow air flow, and can even be unzipped fully so that the machine is exposed to air on all sides.
So, yeah, there was some great thinking and engineering going into the PS3 aspects of the case.
The rest, however, comes up a little short. There should be several velcro straps or winding pegs in the accessory pocket to allow you to neatly store cords instead of having to either wind or tuck them in carefully, or even have to rubber-band or tie them yourself. There is room for a couple of controllers and maybe a third if you arrange carefully (or two controllers and the BD remote...you could even get a PSP in there), but, again, they're not secured in any way.
The accessory pouch is fastened closed using velcro, and the panel that peels away allows you to access the entire pouch at once, making it easy to load and unload only the items you want.
I don't mind the slide pockets for the games and BDs, it's not my favorite feature about the unit, but I guess I can't see any other way to do it. It also includes multiple pockets for game manuals. The case has three sets of slide-in disc pockets, two of which are on a single panel velcroed to the lid of the case, and the third of which is behind that panel. It allows for about 30 games/BDs, and you can probably fit somewhere between six and ten manuals in the pockets. Again, it's serviceable, but not spectacular.
The nicest thing about the whole case is you really can carry everything you need to fully deploy the PS3 wherever you go...except a HD home theatre system. For me, it's great because I split time between two cities, and it makes it trivially easy to pull the whole kit together and move the unit from one apartment to the other: Takes about five mintues to load, then you just grab it and go. It even comes with a nice shoulder strap to make it easier to carry along with whatever other bags you may have.

Playstation 3 Soul Calibur IV Arcade Stick Review

Playstation 3 Soul Calibur IV Arcade Stick
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own both sticks and each are made as a limited edition for their respective games. Both sticks have a beautifully design faceplate representing each game. Both sticks are made by HORI, a well known maker of peripherals from Japan, and have that HORI quality throughout. The typical 8 way clicking lollipop joystick and the durable convex buttons are featured and is typical of HORI parts. This is where the similarities end.
Availability: The Tekken 5 stick is not in production any longer but you can find many on auction at the typical auction websites. SCIV stick obviously is brand new and features SCIV artwork on the face.
SIZE: The SCIV stick is about 1/2 the size and girth of the Tekken 5 stick. Your hands will not completely rest on SCIV stick as it would on the massive Tekken 5 stick. Also it is important to note that the Tekken 5 stick is similar in size as HORI's arcade pro series sticks. SCIV stick is similar to the smaller namco fighting stick for PS1 and the DEAD OR ALIVE 4 stick for XBOX 360 released with the game both made by HORI.
Compatibility: THIS IS IMPORTANT. IF you read nothing else, make sure you read this part. The Tekken 5 stick is made for PS2. The SCIV stick is made for PS3.
SCIV stick will work on SCIV, Soul Blade (PS1), SCII and SCIII (PS2), TEKKEN 5 DR (PS3), TEKKEN 1,2,3,4 TAG,5 (PS2) and most importantly it features turbo functions and a PS HOME button as well.
The Tekken 5 Stick was originally made for PS2 and WILL NOT work with the PS3 UNLESS you get the right adapter. NOT JUST ANY ADAPTER, the right adapter!!! This goes for any and all HORI sticks made for PS2. What's the right adapter?
Not many are available anymore, but one that works but with a small lag input and no PS home button is the ANTCOMMANDOS guitar hero adapter. Specifically designed for the guitar hero controller but works with the stick. I am an average player at best and even I notice a lag. But for most button mashers and hackers this maybe a good choice for you. And it is the most readily available and least expensive.
The one you want if it ever becomes available again is the REAL ps2 to PS3 adapter from China. It was sold on Amazon by mycarryingcase but has since been unavailable.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00116SUUO
If it comes available again, do not hesitate, get it. It has no lag and features a PS3 home button. It works great with SCIV as well as Tekken 5 DR and all the previous editions of each. It even works with Virtua 5!!!! It is avialable through others sellers but they are expensive and inflated because of the rarity of such an item. And don't even waste your money on the other products---> THEY DO NOT WORK. Period.
So how does it work for Soul Calibur IV? Hands down (no pun intended) better than using a dual shock 3.
The button lay out is similar to the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 (HRAP3), in which the buttons curve from left to right. However on the SCIV stick the button layout differs in that the top row is L1 [](A) /\(B) R1 and the bottom row is L2 X(G) O(K) R2. Already there is a built in advantage to this configuration versus a controller, because many of the moves require simultaneous button presses and sequences. Example: Darth Vader's Force Grip into Force Hang then Saber Strike, which requires B+G,A+B then A+B. This is so much harder to do on a controller, but you can easily hit this 9/10 times on the SCIV stick. Yes, some of you can probably do this easily on the controller but it takes much less skill to pull off when your fingers are covering all the necessary buttons on the SCIV stick. There are many moves and combos like this with ALL the characters, some are even more complicated. I used darth vader as an example because, well, everyone will try him at least once. I did. I usually play Taki ever since Soul Blade and I used a Hori fighting PS1 back then and have never used anything else but a Hori Branded stick since.
In addition, you can configure the buttons on SCIV any way you want so can actually set it up just like the arcade where the main buttons are closest to the stick.
Despite true stick enthusiatist saying that HORI isnt as good as real arcade parts like Sanwa, that is an unfair comparsion. This stick was not intended for public use and abuse. I look at it this way. HORI parts are not arcade quality, BUT are quality parts. This is NOT Madcatz or Nyko cheap quality at all. The weight, feel, and quality are evident once you unwrap and use this stick. The joystick clicks in every direction and buttons are resposive, the top is steel, and the artwork will not fade from normal use. And for many of you that don't feel like spending over 140.00 on a HRAP3, this will serve you just fine. Just get it already!
