(More customer reviews)I tried what I thought was a good third party AC adapter to replace the one I left at a friend's house, and it was awful. It ran SUPER hot to the point where it left scorch marks on my Ethan Allen entertainment center! After a week, it smelled like burnt plastic and then it failed. It took two days for the smell to go away even after I threw it out.
I have had zero problems with this true Microsoft AC adapter, and I'd recommend it to anyone. To put this in perspective, I run Linux on my one PC and even though I run XP on the other, I run Firefox and use StarOffice. I avoid Microsoft products like the plague, but I would NEVER EVER use any AC adapter other than Microsoft's. I've seen most of them, and they are all terrible.
