storywise, it's awesome! the cut scenes are dramatic and lots of mafia movies got nothin on this game. control-wise, i felt it was slightly awkward because the camera felt like it was at an odd angle at times but got used to it soon enough. the modeling & animation is superb but the lip sync isn't very impressive on minor characters. they did a good job on the main character though (which is to be expected).
one bad thing about the game is that there is a bug that impedes your process towards the end. i had to redo an entire chapter. it wasn't too horrible but i did lose a few hours of progress that i had to repeat. read below if you want to know how to avoid this
*SPOILER ALERT*
[[there will be a part of the game where you are asked to either sell cars to mike bruski or steal from stores. choose the cars because stealing from stores activates the bug]]
*END OF SPOILER*
another complaint is that this game is too short. I passed it in three days the first time. I didn't get my fill so I re-passed it on hard mode, which takes slightly longer. it is fairly easy to get all the achievements for this game. I got them all in two tries. I suggest passing it casually the first time and on a second go, getting all the achievements you missed the first time. I intend to get the DLC eventually so that I can further enjoy more mafia

about the extras that come with the collector's edition:
i was honestly disappointed when the package arrived. i thought amazon sent me the regular edition by mistake because i didn't understand why the box was so small. be advised that the thickness is twice that of a regular game.
firstly, THE BOOK:
it is the same size and thickness as a normal game/dvd case with the spine running width-wise. i'm a sucker for art books and movie/game renders & photos. you can't really appreciate the artwork of the game when it's so small. the book is lovely but i wish i would have known it was going to be so small.
secondly, THE MAP:
i can't tell the difference between poster paper and this so-called tear resistant paper. i'm pretty sure i can tear this easily enough, but it is quite large, which is nice. to package it efficiently it came folded up inside the game case. it would have been cool if it was rolled up or something because i'm not too keen that it has creases in it. but, whatever
thirdly, THE CD:
AMAZING! before i even played the game, i listened to and loved the music. it's wonderful. it is a spectacular addition to this edition
fourthly, THE DLC:
i LOVED the sports car. it is easily the fastest car in the game. and a great thing about mafia ii is that you can customize your ride. i added pricy rims and a sports-tuned engine to make this baby go even faster. along with the sports car, you get a 4-seat luxury car with a beautiful design. the DLC is exclusive through this edition and also comes with some clothes for Vito
lastly, THE STEELCASE:
chic. it adds a nice final touch to this edition and is appropriate for the mafia theme of the game.
-----------
overall, this was a great buy. i got it on sale so it was cheaper than the regular edition. i don't regret buying it at all. beat it twice and the ending still left me stunned the 2nd time around
