I was a huge YDKJ fan back in the day, so obviously I was very excited to see a new version released that is console compatible! Here's the skinny:
The GOOD: It's hilarious! The same action packed trivia show with absolutely hilarious comedy will keep you in stitches! A lot of the old favorite question formats (Jack Attack, Dis or Dat) make an appearance. The wrong answer of the game, which varies by episode and is like an obscure scavenger hunt, keeps you on your toes. The format allows for everyone to play most questions, so even if you have a 'buzzer beater' in your crew, everyone can still score and enjoy the game without bashing the guy who seems to know everything a second before you do. Eleven questions a game (five per round for two rounds plus a jack attack) makes it a quick game, but lots of replay value. I find myself saying "just one more..." after most games. The content is VERY fresh and updated and the comedy is funnier than I remember.
The BAD: No gibberish questions... that's a fan favorite! Everything is multiple choice or jack-attack style, so no fill in the blanks either. Personally, I hate the episode format: you used to be able to pick categories, now you play pre-programed episodes with no choice, which lowers replay value.
Fans of the series: you'll find things to hate, but it's most def worth it. Every format of the game changes a bit, so get over your nostalgic hangups and enjoy the ride.
For newbies to the series: seriously? You're still reading this? Buy the game already: even if you hate trivia, it's too hilarious not to buy.
