This game was delayed numerous times until Namco felt that it met or exceeded the expectations of today's gamers. The result: one of this year's best platform games and a fitting tribute to probably THE most recognized character in video game history. Included is the original Pac-Man classic, a 3-D maze mode (ala Pac-Mania), and a new Quest (adventure) mode. The Quest mode has Pac-Man taking a romp in a colorful and well-designed 3-D world. This is polished platform gaming at its finest. Pac-Man has numerous capabilities to help him solve some very clever little puzzles throughout the 20+ levels. Control is tight and responsive. The music and sound effects are also well done. Had Pac-Man World contained only the Quest mode, it would have been a worthy purchase. But add in the classic and 3-D maze modes as well and you have a ton of replay value in your hands. Highly recommended, especially to those of you who have young children. Also, Pac-Man World is sure to appeal to girlfriends or wives who otherwise wouldn't be caught dead playing a video game.
